Learning to Feel
When we touch people's body, we are also touching their mind,
emotions and their souls. In order to serve our clients, we need to be
aware of how we influence them though our touch, words, actions and
beliefs. Knowing ourselves is the key to understanding our clients and
others.
While there is nothing that can replace the work with a good
mental health counselor, there are some things you can do on your own to become
more aware of yourself. These same tools can be used when working on
clients to be a witness for their process and support them through their
process.
I have been studying and using these methods myself and highly
recommend them all. I actually have combined some of them as I have
learned more about them and studied them. In many ways, they are all
address the same basic issue and that is learning to feel our feelings and know
where they come from and what to do with them. Since our work is about
creating feelings through touch it is most important to become conscious of your
feelings. This will enhance your practice. Most of the methods can
actually assist you in building your practice.

explanation of what these tools are based on what I have discovered about
them. They are my personal opinions and experiences.)
