Peer supervision groups are groups of professionals joining together to
learn about themselves and the therapeutic relationship that occurs between the
client and the professional.
I believe
that a community of peer groups is the next step for the massage profession in
developing and building the profession. As we are able to take a look
at ourselves and our work and support each other in the process, our work will
take on more meaning for ourselves and our clients.
Peer supervision groups are intended to
provide support for massage therapists in any manner that is needed such as:
-
all stages of starting, building and
maintaining a practice whether it be someone who is employed at a massage
facility or self-employed.
-
address the issues of isolation often
found in this profession
-
ongoing consultation, networking and
support
-
to further the understanding of what
happens between a client and a massage therapist and the influence we have
on clients as therapists
-
ongoing mentoring and supervision
-
discuss client's cases in a safe
environment
-
discuss business planning
It is not our purpose to judge or fix your
practice, but support you in finding out what it is you want and how are you
going to get that.
In the process of getting clear about who you are and
what you need, your practice will flourish.
