Nutrition - Sugar Free Diets
Sugar Free Diets are no longer just for diabetics and hypoglycemics.
Sugar really turns to alcohol in your blood system. That's why you often
feel like you have a hang over after eating a lot of sweets.
Dr.
Mercola even has an article on how it is even more important to give up
sugar than it is to give up smoking cigarettes.
The way to start a sugar free diet is to just throw everything out in your
house that contains sugar and start reading the labels on foods.
Sugar is also disguised on labels. Some common terms for sugar: (or
see Wikipedias list)
- high fructose corn syrup
- dextrose
- maltose
- fruit juice
- corn sweeteners
- sucrose
- evaporated cane juice
- glucose
- rice syrup
My experience with sugar comes from being sugar free for almost 4
years. Ok, I am not 100% free. I allow real maple syrup once in
awhile and it is hard to avoid in restaurants as it is in everything especially:
- Thai food
- sauces
- the obvious deserts
- salad dressings
