Gluten Free living

Gluten is found in the following foods:

  • Barley
  • Malt or malt flavoring (can be made from barley)
  • Malt vinegar (made from barley)
  •   Rye
  • Triticale
  • Wheat (durum, graham, semolina, kamut, spelt)

Wheat in particular should be avoided as it is difficult to digest and it is really high in pesticides.

Eliminating Wheat from your diet will not be easy.  It is really in everything:

  • pasta
  • soy sauce
  • sauces
  • bread
  • cereal

When changing over to a gluten free diet, I first found it easier not to try to replace these items.  Nothing really compared (at the time) to a good piece of bread.

Since I gave up gluten 3 years ago, I hardly miss it.  I would never believe I would be saying that since my staple diet was sandwiches, pasta for dinner and a bagel or muffin for breakfast.
