The 5 elements describe the parallelism and synchronicity of events in the inner and outer world. They are ordered in the five phases - fire, earth, metal, water, wood - which each corresponds to five organ networks and their respective meridians along with the five seasons, climates and personality types. Analagous to the seasonal cycles of evolution: birth, growth, ripening, harvest and decay/death. Fire = summer, joy, red Earth = late summer, pensive, yellow Metal= autumn, sadness, white Water = winter, fear, black Wood = spring, anger, blue
