At the conclusion of this course, you will be able to:
• Define the following vocabulary words: communicable disease,
contamination, infection,
pathogen, phagocytosis, Universal Precautions, Standard
Precautions.
• List at least five major communicable diseases and identify
which type of pathogen is
responsible: bacteria, virus, fungi or parasite, and define each
of the three ways that
pathogens are spread.
• Identify the body fluids that are most likely to transfer
communicable diseases and the most
important actions you can take to prevent communicable diseases.
• List the most important parts of the CDC’s Standard
Precautions Guidelines for application
to body‐centered therapy practice.
• Achieve at least 70% correct on the open‐book test.
