Choosing a Massage Domain Name or Business Name

What everyone wants to know about first is what should they name their site- what www.mymassageclinic.com should they choose and how do you get a name and get it hooked up to where ever the website is hosted.   Choosing the name part actually comes later in this process as you need to have formulated a little bit of your intention and what you do when you see clients so that your domain name can reflect that.  There is also another part to choosing a domain name.  It can and most likely should be different from your office or business name.  What people are typing into the search engines are words like “seattle, massage”.   You can see how many people are looking for massage in your area by using this little tool from Sitebuildit! – my hosting

Using Searchit!
STEP 1    Select a Search Category.   Brainstorming

STEP 2    Select a Search Type.
(Click on the Click for information text link for more information about the Search Type you selected in STEP 2, and what to enter in STEP 3.) Yahoo!Overture Keyword selector tool

STEP 3    Enter a Search Term.

Massage Therapy, my city/town, or my type of massage in my city town.

Then click the button...

Search It!

(Try it also with the words “massage”  “massage therapy” or whatever type of therapy you do and investigate things like "back pain",  "fibromyalgia" and other conditions you work with.)

company – called Searchit!  The popup box will tell you what to do and what is happening. Use the directions in the side box for your first searches to see how many people are searching for you. The results you see indicate how many people used that search keyword last month from one search engine results. If you don’t get any results, it may be that you are searching too narrow, too wide or there may be another search engine that is popular where you live.  In general, it will give you an idea to begin with.

There are many other searches that the Searchit! Tool provides that are too detailed to go into here, but you can start playing with the different types of searches.  It can also help you with market research, domain name research, competition and other ways to make money on your website.  Just play with the different search selections and click the help button for assistance in deciphering your results.

In general, the best name for a website (massage business) is one that has one or two of the words from your Unique Selling Proposition that you discovered previously.  It should tell people what they want to know – that you do massage and you do it close to where they live or work or whatever.

The most popular way to search for a massage therapist is to put in the keywords 'massage, your city'.  Using this concept is also helping to expand your prospective clients instead of limiting it to one area or type of massage.  Think big and your business will be big.
