7 Steps to a Successful Massage Practice
In general, after 20 years of
business, here is what I have found out:
1. Word of Mouth
is the best form of marketing.
2. Marketing needs
to be an ongoing, every day/week/month/year activity.
Read list of marketing
ideas.
3. Giving away free massages brings you
clients who only want free massages.
4. Creating a Web
Presence. In today's world everyone is in search of information.
Creating a website that shows your essence is an important step. Make a website to promote
your business!
Here
are some ideas for promoting your business on the web.

is a step by step guide to making and marketing your website.
5. Self Care.
Taking care of yourself involves taking care of your external and internal
needs. The external are often obvious - the need for good food, exercise,
financial stability. The internal are those things that you may or may not
be conscious of - the need for approval, appreciation, love, to be heard,
acknowledged, etc.
The one thing that I see that is often lacking in
massage therapists is they don't get regular massages themselves. You need to be getting
a regular weekly massage treatment for your self or all your efforts may
go to waste. Staying in touch with your body is the key to staying in this
profession for as long as you want. If you can't commit to taking care of yourself, how
can you expect anyone that comes to you to do the same. Your actions
speak so loudly, I cannot hear what you say.
6. Create
a Spiritual Practice. In conjunction with
your everyday marketing efforts, it is helpful to visualize your practice
and everything you want it to be. Take a few minutes each day and
think about how busy you want to be. How many clients are you seeing each
day, each week, each month? What kinds of clients are you treating?
Injuries, sports related, energy work, relaxation, a combination?
What are the details of the sessions? How successful is each session?
How do you feel after the day is over?
7. Get support through peer
groups and supervision.
